How is lockdown changing our lives?

Life as we know it has come to a stop. Our plans have been postponed indefinitely and we find ourselves rewiring not just our daily routines, but slowly rethinking what this all means moving forward.

We’re currently embracing fear and stress as a defense mechanism in times of a pandemic ‑ never letting our guard down. We're also finding creative ways to stay motivated and focused in our 1 bedroom apartment. We’re following the news and contemplating the situation, not to wonder why, but to consider what’s our best strategy to stay safe and be responsible under these circumstances.

To say that this is a lesson and a wake-up call is an understatement. Because let’s face it. Life most likely won’t be the same for our generation.

Travel will be different. Priorities and values will forever change – not to mention social interactions. And only those who're able to work from home can enjoy the freedom to stay safe. Yet, we’re nothing without those essential workers.

We’ve been forced to be present, which is good. Simple, intimate moments are bringing the most joy these days. Rewards won’t come in the form of giant feasts or airplane tickets but in the form of essential purchases and Amazon deliveries. And once again, having a safe place to call home – preferably with a backyard or a balcony – has never been so important. (We really need that balcony!)

It’s hard to make sense of it all at this point, but as a dear friend recently pointed out, a sad part of history is unfolding right in front of our eyes. What we make of it will be our next chapter. Let’s do our part to make things better in any way we can and come out of it stronger. We’re all in this together.
